The Guide |
|
A man made all of rubber bands took me gently by the hand,
walked me to a place outside myself, said: You are more than you allow yourself.
Stretch! Stretch! Only always to expand! Nothing snaps loose when you become
the rubber band. Wrap around yourself, be one with the multi-colored ball of me.
Roll, roll, fast or slow—go! The full round of you is all of me.
Connect and fasten—be useful!— as rubber bands will. Just don’t forget
you do your most essential work when you are wholly, scrupulously,
still. |

This poem was written (mostly) in an Aug. 18, 2009, workshop and is included here at class request. The prompt was a guide meditation preceded by yoga stretches. |
